About My Travels

Welcome to "My Journey," a channel created by your friendly neighborhood adventure junkie, Eu Gene! I'm the kind of guy who thinks a comfortable ride is overrated and would rather explore the world on a skateboard, unicycle, or pogo stick (if I could master it).

As a passionate motorcycle rider and traveler, I live by the motto of "Race the Rain, Ride the Wind, and Chase the Sunsets!" But let's be honest, there are times when I end up racing the wind, riding the rain, and chasing my own tail instead.

I've travelled to 78 countries across the globe and have made plenty of mistakes along the way, from ordering food I couldn't pronounce to getting lost in translation with the locals. But hey, that's what makes it an adventure, right?

So join me on this wild ride as I share my experiences, insights, and the occasional dad joke. After all, who said travelling can't be both fun and informative? Let's go somewhere and make some memories!

Adventure in Hogsback, Eastern Cape: Amatola Trails and Madonna & Child Falls on my Ducati Multistrada

Embarking on a journey from Port Shepstone to Hogsback, I had no idea the adventure that awaited me. This 650km trip was filled with incredible sights, sounds, and experiences that left me in awe of the natural beauty of South Africa.

One of my first stops was at the enchanting Away with the Fairies guesthouse. This unique and quirky accommodation boasts stunning views of the Hogsback mountains and offers a range of activities for visitors to enjoy, including hiking, mountain biking, and even paragliding. With its cozy atmosphere and laid-back vibe, Away with the Fairies provided the perfect start to my journey.

Next, I made my way to the Amatola Hiking Trails, a must-visit destination for any hiking enthusiast. With its well-marked trails and diverse landscapes, Amatola offers a range of hikes that cater to all fitness levels. The area is famous for its 2-6 day hikes, which allow visitors to fully immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the region. It's no wonder that J.R.R Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and Picasso were inspired by this magical place.

After a long day of hiking, I decided to cool down in the breathtaking Madonna & Child Waterfalls. This stunning natural wonder boasts crystal clear waters that cascade down a series of rocks, creating a tranquil oasis in the heart of the Amatola Mountains. It was the perfect spot to relax and reflect on the incredible journey that I had embarked on.

From the quirky charm of Away with the Fairies to the rugged beauty of the Amatola Mountains and the tranquil oasis of the Madonna & Child Waterfalls, my trip from Port Shepstone to Hogsback was a truly unforgettable experience. Join me as I recount my journey, filled with incredible adventures, breathtaking landscapes, and the warmth and hospitality of the South African people.
